After decades of music-making in AR, TX and NJ, singer-songwriter Talley Summerlin now calls Brattleboro, VT, home. This interview from rock magazine The Aquarian is a good overview of how he approaches songwriting (or how it approaches him).

His lyrics have been called intelligent but passionate, melancholy but hopeful. Influenced by such disparate artists as Peter Gabriel and Killing Joke, Crowded House and Hüsker Dü, audiences appreciate his bittersweet, soaring vocals.

He writes intense songs that also happen to be melodic as all hell.

He was once lead singer and lyricist of a band called BE. Fans of Crowded House, Radiohead, and Afghan Whigs would enjoy BE's recorded-at-home swan song, 2001's Thistupidream, one of the best-reviewed independent albums that year. Read what PopMatters had to say about it.

In January, 2011, while still in Austin, TX, Talley released his first solo material, a digital single for his song “Alright With You.” After a move to Madison, NJ, he released a 3-song EP, the “lushly produced and introspective” Shake the Gates, in July, 2012.

His music has been featured on Jerry Bruckheimer’s Emmy-nominated Without A Trace and CBS’ number-one daytime drama The Young and the Restless.
